Offense
Playname : Five

sketch
1
Forwards seal their man and lead out.

ball goes either side

Lets say the ball goes to the 4
The 5 steps up to pick the 1. the 1 cuts off the pick and the 5 steps to catch the ball and rotate it.
the 2 cuts out of the way
the 3 can look for a seal if they have a mismatch. we'll only want to run this out of timeouts and to exploit obvious mismatches, it also works best later in games.

sketch
3
the 4 passes the ball to the 5 or directly to the 1 if the pick was effective.
the 3 steps up to set a good pick for the 4.
in this offence we need to not only get to our spots but make sure you make a contact on all picks.
this pick is particularly important for this offence because it can free up the forward and if it doesn't it will lead to an open shot for the picker. so there is incentive to set a good screen.

the 5 kicks the ball to the 1. At this stage is the point guard is being overplayed and his man is going over the top of the screen rather then slipping under, we can call a 5 back where the 1 cuts back door and the 5 passes the ball.

we might only be able to do that a couple of times a game, but you never know.

the 4 comes off the pick to the basket. timing is important here so the 5 must move the ball to the 1 quickly and the 1 must do a v cut if pressured.

the 5 starts head hunting 3's man to pick him

sketch
5
we look to get the ball in the post for a layup of in good position. otherwise the 5 sets the screen for the 3 and the 3 cuts off the screen for a shot.

sketch
6
1 kicks the ball to the 3

5 cuts down to the right block.

sketch
7
ball goes to the 2

4 steps put to set up his man for the screen.

5 screens away for the 4.

sketch
8
we look for the 4 coming off the screen.

that seems like a long play but that should only take us about 17 seconds and if we get that far into the offence what ever happens after that is going to be a good shot.
